Best Portable and affordable hangboards

What are the best portable and affordable hangboards to buy? It is every climber’s wish to have a hangboard installed in the house. But to install a full-size hangboard is a bit of a pain and let’s be honest how likely are we to be strong enough to use all the holes on the hangboard. Forget about the YouTube videos of climbers using the smallest of crimps to do a front lever. Most average climbers will be happy with holding on to a 10mm slot for a couple of seconds.

A full-size hangboard may not be necessary. The next best thing is a small and portable hangboard. As there is no need for measurement and alignment all you need is a single bolt hanger or ring and you are done. All you need to do is simply hang the hangboard with a cordelette. The best thing is you can remove the hangboard with ease and the only remnant is a single bolt. Chuck it in your gym bag bring it with you and hang it from a pull-up bar, a sturdy tree, or a bolt, or pull against the resistance of a solid object or your foot.

Here are 10 amazing portable hangboards that can be easily set up and get you started.

Training on hangboard

Hangboard is a great way to train to strengthen your fingers. However, training on hangboard needs to be done in moderation especially if you are new to climbing. It is common for climbers to get injured from hangboards because they are crimping too hard on the small edges of the hangboard. Instead of hanging on a full crimp grip climbers should adopt an open-hand crimp which is less susceptible to finger tendon injuries.
